about ecos
Rooted in the unique and diverse ecosystems of Western New York, ECOS is a testament to the deep connection we, its founders, share with the land we grew up on. Inspired by the rich natural heritage of our hometowns, we embarked on a journey to safeguard the environment that shaped our childhoods and continues to define our community. ECOS emerged from this shared passion, bringing together local environmental advocates and professionals dedicated to the conservation and revitalization of our region’s ecological balance. Our cooperative stands as a beacon of local action with a vision for global sustainability, focusing on projects that not only preserve the natural beauty of Western New York but also serve as models for ecological stewardship worldwide.
In forming ECOS, we recognized the power of community and the impact of collective efforts in addressing environmental challenges. Our cooperative leverages the unique skills, knowledge, and dedication of each member to tackle issues from invasive species management to promoting sustainable farming practices, all within the context of our local ecosystem. By concentrating on Western New York, we aim to create a ripple effect of environmental awareness and action, inspiring other communities to undertake similar endeavors. ECOS is more than just a cooperative; it’s a commitment to our roots, a tribute to the land that nurtures us, and a promise to future generations that we will preserve the natural world that defines our home.
